Hansi, April 13: An agreement was reached on Monday between farmers and the administration following a fire in the wheat fields of Masudpur village in Hansi district. Farmers had been protesting since Sunday, demanding compensation for the damage caused by the fire. On Monday, a large number of farmers gathered in Masudpur.
Among them were prominent figures such as farmer leader Dashrath Malik and Harshdeep Gill, who is associated with the INLD. The farmers demanded that those whose crops were destroyed by the fire be provided with adequate compensation. Some farmers also put forward a demand for additional compensation per acre, over and above the standard compensation for the loss of two acres of wheat.

Demands Put Forward by the Farmers
Hansi SDM Rajesh Khoth, South Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) Chief Engineer Rajendra Sabharwal, District Council Chairperson Sonu Data, and officials from the Panchayat Department arrived at the scene and held discussions with the farmers. Farmer leader Dashrath Malik demanded compensation from the administration calculated at a rate equivalent to 55 mans (units of weight) of wheat, along with financial assistance of ₹5,000 per acre for the loss of crop residue (fanas).

Compensation Promised by April 15
SDM Rajesh Khoth assured the farmers that, in accordance with government-prescribed norms, farmers whose wheat crops spanning a total of 100 acres were destroyed by the fire would receive compensation at the rate of ₹15,000 per acre. He further stated that this compensation would be disbursed by April 15. Additionally, officials from the District Council, DHBVN and the Panchayat Department pledged to extend every possible assistance through social and other channels.
