Youth found hanging upside down in well in Hansi; police act after video surfaces, victim’s statement recorded, alleges assault with hands and feet tied

Hansi: An incident involving the inhumane treatment of a young man from the SC community has come to light in Sorkhi village, located in the Hansi district of Haryana. A video circulating on social media shows several youths assaulting a man and hanging him upside down in a well by tying his legs.

Following the emergence of the video, the police have initiated an investigation and the victim underwent a medical examination on Thursday night. Inspector Pavitra Kumar, in-charge of the Sorkhi police outpost, stated that the matter came to the police’s attention after the video went viral. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the man seen in the video is Baruram, a resident of Sorkhi.

According to Inspector Kumar, the police had not received any complaint at the time of the incident. However, upon receiving official information, the police took immediate action, sending the victim to the General Hospital in Hansi for a medical examination. Further legal action will be taken based on the medical report and the victim’s statement. The police are also working to identify the youths seen in the viral video.
