Hansi’s Narendra Berwal Wins Bronze at Asian Games in Men’s +90 kg Boxing

Hansi: International boxer Narendra Berwal, from Sorkhi village in Hansi, has won a bronze medal in the men’s +90 kg boxing category at the Asian Games, securing his second consecutive medal at the continental event.

Narendra had earlier won a bronze medal in the same category at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. His latest achievement has brought pride and celebration to Sorkhi village and the Hansi region.

Narendra Berwal Secures Medal After Quarter-Final Win

Narendra began his Asian Games campaign directly in the quarter-finals. On September 27, he defeated Thailand’s Adthapong Saengtep through a Referee Stops Contest (RSC) just 1 minute and 37 seconds into the first round.

The victory booked his place in the semi-finals and assured India of another medal in the men’s +90 kg boxing category.

Loses Semi-Final to Kazakhstan World Champion

Narendra faced Kazakhstan’s world champion Aibek Oralbay in the semi-final on September 29.

Oralbay won the bout by a 5-0 decision, ending Narendra’s campaign in the semi-finals and leaving him with the bronze medal.

Despite the semi-final defeat, Narendra’s performance gave him his second consecutive Asian Games medal in the +90 kg category.

Commonwealth Games Silver Medal Earlier This Year

Narendra has also enjoyed success at the Commonwealth Games this year. He won a silver medal in the men’s +90 kg category at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

His consecutive international achievements have sparked celebrations in Sorkhi village in Hansi, with the boxer continuing to establish himself on the international stage.
