Former Punjab DIG Harcharan Bhullar, who was caught accepting a bribe of 5 lakh rupees, has been re-arrested by the CBI for five days. Bhullar, along with middleman Krishanu, were produced in the Chandigarh CBI court on Thursday. The court remanded Krishanu to 14 days’ judicial custody.
During the hearing, Bhullar’s lawyer filed a petition to meet him in jail, on which the court ordered that Bhullar can meet his lawyer every day between 4 and 5 pm.
Earlier, Bhullar’s lawyer opposed the remand, arguing that the CBI cannot enter Punjab and that the arrest is illegal.
Meanwhile, the CBI lawyer said that in two months, Rs 32 lakh came into the account of former DIG Harcharan Bhullar, whereas his salary is not that much.
Sources have revealed that when the CBI took Bhullar on a five-day production warrant, they interrogated him in front of Krishanu Sharda. During this interrogation, the CBI uncovered significant evidence. Following this, a raid was conducted at the home of property dealer Bhupinder Singh in Patiala. The CBI recovered numerous documents and cash.
