Harivansh Narayan Nominated to Rajya Sabha as Nitish Kumar Takes Oath

President Draupadi Murmu has nominated Harivansh Narayan Singh for the Rajya Sabha. This seat had become vacant after former CJI Ranjan Gogoi retired. To fill this seat, JD(U) has nominated Harivansh for the Rajya Sabha. The 69-year-old Harivansh will now remain in the Rajya Sabha until 2032.

President Steps In After JD(U) Omission

In the Rajya Sabha, a total of 12 members are nominated by the President. These members are chosen based on their special contributions to art, literature, science, and social service.

In fact, Harivansh’s previous term ended on April 9. His party JD(U) had not given his name for the Rajya Sabha this time. In response, the President herself nominated him.
