Haryana Assembly Day Five: MLAs Highlight Ayushman Card, Waterlogging, Sewerage Project Delays

Today is the fifth day of the Haryana Assembly’s budget session. The fourth day’s proceedings began with Question Hour at 11 a.m. MLA Aditya Surjewala first raised the issue of the Ayushman card, to which Minister Aarti Rao responded. Following this, Julana MLA Vinesh Phogat raised the issue of waterlogging.

She said, “I brought some photos of this problem to the House. People have to use buckets to scoop out water.” Responding, Cabinet Minister Krishna Pal Panwar said, “The government is working on this. A committee has also been formed to address this issue.” On this, Speaker Harvinder Kalyan said, Minister ji, take special care of Vinesh.

It should be noted that 20 MLAs from both the ruling and opposition parties have raised questions during Question Hour. These issues range from Ayushman cards to waterlogging. MLAs will also prominently raise issues in their constituencies during Zero Hour.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nayab Saini held a meeting with ministers and MLAs in the committee room for a briefing before the House session. They discussed the answers to the questions expected during Question Hour.

The issue of Ayushman card will resonate

MLA Balwan Singh Daulatpuria (Fatehabad) has asked questions about research on Bt.-5 cotton seeds. Congress MLA Aditya Surjewala (Kaithal) will raise the issue of treatment provided under the Ayushman card.

Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal (Jhajjar) will raise questions regarding the supply of clean drinking water in her Jhajjar assembly constituency’s villages Kaliyawas, Khanpur Kalan, Mundsa, Khor, Bahu, Nogaon, Salhawas, Matanhail, Dhana Dhanirwas and Jhajjar city.

Vinesh will raise the issue of waterlogging

Independent MLA from Ganaur, Devendra Kadian, will raise the issue of upgrading the municipal corporation to a municipal council. MLA from Indri, Ram Kumar Kashyap, will seek answers from the government regarding the construction of a bridge over the Dhanaura Escape to connect Shergarh Island, a village in the Indri assembly constituency, with the Uttar Pradesh border. Former wrestler Vinesh Phogat, MLA from Julana, will raise the issue of waterlogging.

Sewerage project not completed for 9 years

MLA Devendra Hans (Guhla) asked whether the sewerage project in Siwan, which began in 2016-17, remains incomplete nine years later; if so, what are the reasons for the government not initiating an investigation into the irregularities and delays in the project, and when is this likely to be investigated?

Is the Government aware that due to leaving the dug up roads open for a long time, many roads have caved in and residential houses have developed serious structural cracks and have been damaged?
