Haryana Budget 2026-27: CM Saini gives special priority to Gurugram, announces wedding city and road project

Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented the 2026-27 budget in the Assembly on Monday and gave special importance to the development of Gurugram. One of the biggest announcements in the budget was the establishment of a ‘Wedding City’. This wedding city will provide all kinds of wedding-related facilities, whether it’s an engagement or a farewell.

Gurugram is already known for its luxury resorts, large banquet halls, and modern wedding facilities. Thousands of weddings are held here every year, attracting guests from various parts of Delhi-NCR. The new Wedding City will not only increase local employment opportunities but will also boost businesses related to event management, catering, decoration, and tourism. The Chief Minister described this as a step that promotes the concept of “Wed in India.”

Major Road Projects to Improve Traffic in Gurugram
The Chief Minister announced several major road projects to address traffic problems in Gurugram. The most prominent is the Outer Ring Road from Sector 58 to Manesar. This route will provide better connectivity to surrounding areas of the city and reduce pressure on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and other highways.

In addition, overbridges and an elevated corridor will be constructed on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR). The 8-lane elevated road and cloverleaf junction from Vatika Chowk to Dwarka Expressway will help reduce traffic congestion and streamline daily traffic.

A 5.1-kilometer-long elevated corridor will also be constructed from NH-48 to Vatika Chowk. These projects—all costing hundreds of crores of rupees—will elevate Gurugram’s connectivity to a new level. Upon completion, the city’s traffic flow will be smoother and faster.

Industrial Development Will Strengthen Haryana’s Economic Infrastructure
Industry Minister and Badshahpur MLA Narbir Singh stated that this budget is not merely a financial document, but provides a vision for Haryana’s industrial development. He stated that no nation can develop solely by relying on agriculture. Citing examples like the United States and Australia, he said that despite having thousands of hectares of agricultural land, these countries established themselves as developed nations by emphasizing industrial development.

A total of ₹1950.92 crore has been allocated for the Industry Department in this budget, an increase of 46.93% compared to the previous year. This funding will prove crucial in strengthening industrial infrastructure and promoting investment. Last year, the development of 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) was announced, and land acquisition has already begun in Ambala and Naranggarh. Proposals have been invited on the e-Bhoomi portal for Tosham, Jind, Rewari, and Rai.

Transforming Gurugram: From a Millennium City to a World-Class Hub

With initiatives like Wedding City, elevated roads, and industrial expansion, significant steps have been taken to transform Gurugram from a Millennium City to a world-class urban and industrial hub. This will not only increase employment opportunities but also strengthen the tourism and service sectors. Furthermore, improved daily traffic and improved connectivity will further enhance Gurugram’s role in the NCR region.
