Haryana: Cables worth ₹36,000 stolen from the fields of nine farmers

Incidents of tubewell cable theft from the fields of nine farmers—including a Sarpanch—across various villages in Mahendragarh have come to light over a five-day period. The farmers lodged complaints with the Mahendragarh Sadar police station, and the police have initiated an investigation, estimating the total value of the stolen cables at ₹36,000.

Notably, on the night of July 30, a 100-foot-long cable was stolen from the tubewell of Anil Kumar, a resident of Rathiwas village. That same night, thieves also cut and stole 300 feet of cable from the tubewell of his neighbor, Rajendra; both farmers estimated the value of the stolen cables at ₹6,000.

Meanwhile, on the night of July 26, cables worth approximately ₹10,000 were stolen from three tubewells in Anawas village. Specifically, 200 feet of cable were stolen from Munshiram’s field, 170 feet from Ramautar’s field, and another 200 feet from Ramavtar’s field.

Additionally, on the night of July 30, electric cables worth around ₹20,000 were stolen from four tubewells in Duloth Ahir village. Devendra Kumar, the Sarpanch’s representative, reported that 320 feet of cable were stolen from the Gram Panchayat’s tubewell, while 450 feet were taken from Phool Singh’s, 250 feet from Pritam’s, and 350 feet from Mahesh’s fields. An investigation has now been launched following an inspection of the sites based on these complaints.
