Haryana Cancels Public Health Dept Holidays Amid Water Crisis, Officials Suspended

In Haryana, due to rising heat and concerns regarding drinking water, the government has canceled the holidays of the Public Health Department. This information was given by the departmental minister Ranveer Gangwa. During a review meeting, he informed that a decision was made regarding this, and clear instructions were given to officers to ensure uninterrupted drinking water during the summer season.

Officers should immediately resolve the public’s problems while being in the field. Two SDOs and two JEs have been suspended due to negligence in the water supply system. In addition, two officers have been charged.

He stated that the SDO and JE of Hansi and Charkhi Dadri have been suspended. The SDO and JE of Adampur have been charged.

Report of the protest in Hansi taken into cognizance

Taking cognizance of the ongoing protest in Chanaut village of Hansi regarding drinking water issues and the report received from officials, the minister has directed the suspension of the concerned SDO and JE. The investigation revealed that the responsible officials there did not show the expected promptness in resolving the problem, due to which people faced difficulties for a long time.

Chargesheet issued to officers on complaint from Hisar
In the meeting, the deteriorated condition of the Adam Pur waterhouse in Hisar district and the problems being faced in drinking water supply there were also taken into cognizance. The minister expressed displeasure over this and instructed to issue a chargesheet to the concerned SDO and JE and demand a reply. He stated that the regular cleaning of waterhouses, maintenance of machines, proper functioning of motors, and ensuring the quality of drinking water are the primary responsibilities of the departmental officers.

He said that the water tank is not just a center for water storage but an important system connected to the daily needs of millions of people. In such a case, there should be no dirt, disorder, or technical malfunction there.

Officers should be seen in the field

Department Minister Ranbir Gangwa instructed officers at the XEN, SDO, and JE levels to regularly tour their areas. They should monitor the drinking water supply system themselves. He said that officers should not work only by sitting in offices but should go to villages and towns to assess the actual situation.

He gave clear instructions that if any tube well, motor, pipeline, boosting station, or water tank develops a malfunction, it should be immediately addressed. If delays in repair work cause a drinking water crisis in any area, strict action will be taken against the concerned officer.
