Chandigarh, Dec 19 — Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that the opposition has no real issue to raise. “Opposition leaders talk about vote theft, while the public has completely rejected Congress’s actions and policies. That is why the opposition is frustrated and makes statements without basis,” he said.

The Chief Minister was speaking during the Question Hour on the second day of the Winter Session of the Haryana Assembly while answering a question from MLA B.B. Batra regarding the number of BPL cards.
Naib Singh Saini said that he had already provided a detailed answer on this matter during the previous assembly session.
He explained that the government had set up a proper procedure, asking people to declare themselves as below the poverty line and submit their forms themselves. “Under the previous government, the income limit was ₹1,20,000, while the current government has raised it to ₹1,80,000. After that, people applied for BPL cards. I had mentioned in this very House that verification would be done after elections, and names of ineligible applicants would be removed. So, where is this scandal coming from?” he asked.
The Chief Minister further said that MLA B.B. Batra cited 8 lakh BPL cards, whereas in 2022, the number of ration cards exceeded 30 lakhs. “It’s unclear where they got their data from,” he remarked. Taking a jibe at the opposition, he added, “During their time, the poor could not even get essential items. Whatever was meant for them was taken by others.”
Targeting the opposition, Saini stated, “It is surprising that they talk about vote theft. Voting is a fundamental right, and the people have clearly rejected Congress’s policies.”
