Cold and Dense Fog Grip Haryana, Yellow Alert Issued; Gurugram Govt Office Timings Changed

Chandigarh: The cold is increasing in Haryana. Fog has enveloped nearly all districts of the state. This has caused a drop in not only night temperatures but also daytime temperatures. The double attack of fog and cold will continue in the coming days. Meanwhile, government office hours have been changed in Gurugram.

Northwesterly Winds Increase Chill

Due to northwesterly winds blowing from the mountains to the plains, the entire state has now been enveloped in a chill. The Indian Meteorological Department has also predicted an increase in cold weather in the last fortnight of December. The IMD has issued a yellow fog alert for 12 districts of the state for December 22nd.

Visibility is zero in many districts

These include Sonipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Ambala, as well as Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Gurugram, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Faridabad, and Nuh Mewat districts along the GT Road. Cold weather will continue in other districts as well. Morning conditions are such that visibility is zero in many districts.

Fog Impacts Roadways and Bus Services

Meanwhile, the Transport Directorate has called a meeting of all roadways GMs this week to discuss bus operations in fog. Fog and mist have affected long-distance night services in Haryana, such as Hisar and Bhiwani. The department clarified that it has not yet released a nighttime bus schedule for the state.

If there is a long distance and operations are hampered due to dense fog, the General Manager concerned with the bus stand can take a decision in this matter.

Cold likely to increase from 24

Weather experts say the cold is expected to intensify across the state starting December 24th. Wind direction will change from the 24th, with icy northern winds blowing. This could increase the cold across the state. There’s also the possibility of dry cold and frost.

Gurugram government office hours changed.

In response to the increasing air pollution and weather conditions in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented GRAP Stage IV. Government office hours in Gurugram district have been changed.

In compliance with the CAQM’s orders, DC Ajay Kumar has issued instructions to implement staggered office timings for all public offices under the state government and municipal bodies. This is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and controlling pollution.

According to the new schedule, offices under the state government will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The offices of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Municipal Corporation of Manesar, Municipal Council of Sohna, Pataudi Mandi, and Municipal Committee of Farrukhnagar will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Bike collides with divider, youth dies

A 20-year-old bike rider, Abhishek, died in a Karnal road accident. The young man was on his way to work in the morning when, due to heavy fog, his bike collided with a divider. After the collision, the young man fell onto the road and died on the spot. It is reported that after his father’s death, the young man was working while also studying to support his family.
