Haryana Shivers as Night Temperatures Fall, IMD Predicts Fog and Cold Day Conditions Till Jan 7

Sirsa: The effects of severe cold are visible in Haryana on the second day of the New Year. According to the data released by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a drop in the minimum (night) temperature has been recorded in the state. The average minimum temperature has decreased by -0.2°C compared to yesterday, which is 3.2°C above normal. The highest night temperature was 12.4 degrees in Hisar. The minimum temperature in Sirsa was 12.1 degrees.

Narnaul Coldest Place in the State

Last night, Narnaul (Mahendragarh) was the coldest place in the entire state. The minimum temperature here dropped to 4.5°C. The temperature here has dropped by 1.0°C in the last 24 hours.

Fog and Cold Day Conditions Persist

Fog and cold day conditions prevailed in the state today. This means that the cold will increase during the day as well as at night.

Even on New Year, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra cities of Haryana remained the coldest during the day.

Several Cities Record Day Temperatures Below 15°C

Apart from this, maximum temperature was recorded below 15 degrees in 15 cities. Morning fog is prevailing in Sonipat, Palwal and other districts. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be cold day conditions in 12 districts of the state – Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Palwal, Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar.

Maximum Temperatures Remain Below Normal

Earlier on Thursday, the state’s average maximum temperature was recorded 3.7°C below normal, according to the Meteorological Department. Bhiwani recorded the highest temperature in the state at 18°C. Meanwhile, the state’s average minimum temperature was 3.1°C above normal.

The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 5.5°C in Narnaul (Mahendragarh). Temperatures fell below 16°C in 15 cities in Haryana, including Ambala, Hisar, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, Panipat, Sirsa, Sonipat and Yamunanagar districts.

Dry Weather Likely Till January 7

Weather experts said, “The weather in the coming days will remain mainly dry throughout the state from January 2nd to January 7th. Dense fog is also likely to persist in many places and cold waves in some areas on January 3rd and 4th. The intensity of the fog may decrease slightly after January 5th, but the haze will persist.”
