Cold Wave Tightens Grip on Haryana, Light Rain in Gurugram–Faridabad, IMD Issues Warnings

Sirsa: In Haryana, cold winds blowing from the mountains have increased the chill. Faridabad and Gurugram experienced light rain on Friday morning, bringing the daytime chill down. The rain also lifted the fog. The cold wave in central Haryana and adjacent Rajasthan is causing daytime temperatures to drop. According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Center (IMD), relief is unlikely today or tomorrow.

First Winter Rain Recorded in Several Districts

Meanwhile, light fog lingered in the GT Road belt districts since morning, affecting visibility. Gurugram and Faridabad, along with Panipat, Bhiwani, and Jhajjar, also experienced light rain. This is the first rain of the winter season.

IMD Issues Cold Wave Warning for 17 Districts

The Meteorological Centre has predicted a cold wave in 17 districts of Haryana today, including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Karnal, Gurugram, Palwal, and Nuh.

Cold day alert in 7 districts of Rajasthan border

Apart from this, cold day like situation is prevailing in 7 districts bordering Rajasthan. These include Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Nuh districts. On the other hand, cold day like situation was prevailing in 8 districts on Thursday. Here the maximum temperature dropped to 5 degrees. Temperature around 12 degrees or below has been recorded in these districts.

Cold Day Conditions in Border Districts

Due to cold wave in Haryana, the day temperature is continuously falling. Minimum temperature in Sirsa remains 4 degrees. Today the minimum temperature in Ambala was recorded at 6.4 and in Hisar at 5.1 degrees. Average temperature in the state dropped by 0.9 degrees. Apart from these districts, drop in temperature was seen in Sirsa, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Panipat, Sonipat.

Fog Disrupts Rail Traffic, 16 Trains Delayed

Meanwhile, 16 trains are delayed in Ambala due to fog. These include the Uchahar Express (7 hours), the Malwa Express (5 hours), the Shaheed Express (1.5 hours), and the Sachkhand Express (1.75 hours).

Haryana Govt Activates Cold Wave Action Plan

In view of the cold, Haryana Government has also become active. The government has issued advisory for vehicles. Vehicle riders have been ordered to drive at the rate of 40 km per hour. Roadways drivers have been given special instructions for this. If the instructions are violated, departmental action will be taken. At the same time, the government has implemented Cold Wave Action Plan. Under this, medical teams are distributing warm clothes.

No Major Relief Expected Till Makar Sankranti

Weather in Haryana is expected to remain generally dry until January 13. During this period, cold northwest winds are expected to cause a slight drop in night temperatures and a slight increase in daytime temperatures.

During this time, light to moderate fog is likely to persist in the state even late at night, while cold winds are likely to blow during the day.
