Dense Fog Reduces Visibility to Zero in Haryana; IMD Issues Orange Alert in 16 Districts

Chandigarh: Visibility in Haryana has reduced to zero due to dense fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has today issued an orange alert for dense fog in 16 districts. These include Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Jind, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal and Nuh.

Yellow alert districts

IMD has issued a yellow alert in Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Mahendragarh and Charkhi Dadri.

Road and rail traffic affected

Road and rail traffic has been affected due to fog. The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for dense fog and asked people to step out of their homes only when necessary.

Advice to work from home in Gurugram

The administration of Gurugram has appealed to people to prefer working from home.

Rail and bus services affected

Several trains are running late due to fog. These include 14732 Kisan Express, Rewari-Fazilka Express, Sriganganagar-Delhi Express, and 12555 Gorakhdham Express.

Hisar Roadways has cancelled two buses on the Chandigarh route. These include the 11 am Hisar-Chandigarh bus and the 4 pm Hisar-Chandigarh bus.

Significant change in temperature

Weather patterns have changed in Haryana. The state’s average maximum temperature has dropped by 2 degrees Celsius, but the temperature is close to normal.

Sirsa recorded a maximum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius.

Ujha (Panipat) and Pandu Pindara (Jind) also felt extremely cold during the day.

Rohtak recorded a temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius, and Pandu Pindara (Jind) recorded a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Gurugram’s KVK area dropped to 6.9 degrees Celsius.

Gurugram Police Commissioner’s Advisory

Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Arora has appealed to everyone to ensure that dense fog remains in Delhi-NCR.

Avoid speeding.

Do not use loud music systems in the car.

Use parking indicators and keep the headlights on low beam.

Avoid drinking and driving.

Those working in morning and night shifts are advised to work from home.

Fog expected to continue till December 20

According to IMD, an active western disturbance will affect some parts of North India from December 20.

According to weather experts, dense to very dense fog will prevail in many parts from December 18 to December 20. Some relief is expected on December 21.

No major change in minimum temperature

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no major change in the minimum temperature in the next 24 hours. However, the night temperature in Haryana and Chandigarh may drop by 2°C to 3°C, which may increase the cold in the morning and evening.
