Haryana: Five Labourers from UP died of suffocation in Kurukshetra

Five people died of suffocation in a hotel room at the Sterling Resort on Pipli Road in Kurukshetra due to a charcoal brazier being used for heating. According to reports, five laborers, who were working on a construction project at the Sterling Resort, were sleeping in a room at night.

No activity observed in the room in the morning

When no one emerged from the room in the morning, the hotel staff looked through the window. Seeing no movement, they informed the police. SHO City Dinesh Rana and Sector 7 police post in-charge Kamal arrived at the scene. A forensic team was also called to the site. After collecting evidence, the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Laborers had come from Saharanpur for painting work

Hotel supervisor Upendra stated that a contractor named Noor from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had come with his laborers to do painting work. They were sleeping in the room at night. In the morning, when a cleaning staff member informed him that no one had come out of the room, he knocked on the door and then looked through the window, but there was no response. He then informed the police. The police are currently investigating the matter.

Post-mortem to be conducted after the arrival of family members

SHO City Dinesh Rana said that the post-mortem examination of all the deceased will be conducted after the arrival of their family members. Prima facie, the cause of death appears to be suffocation. The room had only one window and a door, which were closed while the five people were sleeping.
