Seven injured in suspected gang war as 30 rounds fired outside Haryana police station in broad daylight

Chandigarh: In a brazen daylight firing incident in front of a police station in Dadri city of Haryana on Thursday, seven people travelling in an SUV car were injured, police said.

Three assaulters fled on foot while allegedly waving revolvers after firing several rounds. Prima facie, the police suspect the incident to be linked to a gang war, although the attackers, who fired at least 30 shots, are yet to be identified.

A video of the crime surfaced showing injured men sitting inside the bullet-riddled SUV car. The injured were referred to the PGI in Rohtak in critical condition.

Firing creates panic outside police station

The gunfire sound triggered panic in the area, with eyewitnesses saying the firing was so sudden that it created a stampede-like situation among passersby.

Seven people riding in a Scorpio car sustained serious injuries. According to preliminary information, the attackers arrived on a bike, positioned it in front of the SUV and forced the vehicle to stop before opening fire.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital in Charkhi Dadri for treatment. After providing first aid, all seven injured were referred to PGI Rohtak due to their critical condition.

The injured have been identified as Ankit from Charkhi Dadri, Kirtiman from Hisar, Suraj, Ankit from Bhiwani, Sunny from Hisar, Krishan from Mahendragarh and Amit from Fatehgarh.

Police scan CCTV footage to identify attackers

A forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence, including bullet shells and other important clues. CCTV footage from cameras installed in the nearby areas is also being examined to identify the assailants, an investigating official said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the three accused came on a motorcycle and carried out the attack before fleeing from the spot.

The firing led to chaos in the area, following which the Superintendent of Police and other senior police officials reached the spot. The police have cordoned off the area and started an investigation to trace the attackers and ascertain the exact motive behind the crime.

The cause of the incident is yet to be confirmed.
