Haryana Government’s Major Decision: PNG Lease Rate Reduced to one-time payment of Rs1,000

The Haryana government has taken a major decision to boost the natural gas network. The government has drastically reduced the lease rate applicable to PNG pipelines lowering it from ₹3 lakh per kilometer to a one-time lump sum of just ₹1,000 per kilometer. This decision will provide significant relief to gas companies and accelerate the pace of pipeline laying across the state.

Currently, 28,377 kilometers of PNG pipelines have been laid in the state, with plans in place to further expand this network. The supply of commercial gas cylinders in Haryana has also been increased by 20 percent, bringing the total supply coverage to 70 percent. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini shared this information during a press conference held at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh.

The Chief Minister stated that the government’s primary focus is on facilitating a transition from LPG to PNG. Under this initiative, a target has been set to provide 1,333,603 connections; however, only 5,759 connections have been installed so far. Officials have been directed to operationalize 200,000 connections as soon as possible. Additionally, 586 CNG stations are currently operational across the state, thereby promoting the use of gas-based fuels.

Claims of Adequate Availability of Petrol, Diesel, and Gas
The Chief Minister noted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the reduction in excise duty on petroleum products has provided relief to the common people, and prices have remained stable. There are 4,032 operational petrol pumps in the state, receiving a daily supply of 4,804 kiloliters of petrol and 12,003 kiloliters of diesel.

The government also expressed satisfaction regarding the availability of LPG. Approximately 200,000 cylinders arrive in the state daily, of which around 190,000 are being distributed. Adequate stock is available at the bottling plants. The supply of commercial LPG to hospitals and schools is also being ensured, with a current stock of 173,000 commercial cylinders available.

Taking strict action against black marketing and hoarding, the government has seized 928 gas cylinders and 4 vehicles, and has identified 86 individuals involved in such illicit activities. The Chief Minister stated that continuous steps are being taken to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply, and there is no shortage of any kind in the state.
