Haryana heatwave: Rohtak, Narnaul hottest at 41°C

The heat in Haryana is continuously increasing. On Friday, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in five cities of the state. The highest temperature of 41.7°C was recorded in Rohtak and Narnaul. Apart from this, the mercury also crossed 40 in Gurugram, Palwal, and Mewat.

However, due to light rain and storms in several districts on Friday evening, there was an average drop of 1.3°C in the maximum temperature, but it did not provide significant relief from the heat. Hail was also observed in Hisar and Hansi. Moreover, winds blew at a speed of 30–40 km per hour, causing temporary changes in the weather.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may rise again by 2–3 degrees in the coming days. The minimum temperature also increased by an average of 3.2°C, reaching 2.2°C above normal. In many cities, the night temperature reached 24–25°C, leaving people with no relief from the heat even at night. The lowest temperature of 20.4°C was recorded in Hathinikhund.

Advisory for Farmers

Considering the fluctuations in the weather, the Agriculture Meteorology Department has advised farmers to remain alert. The Meteorology Department has stated that the harvesting and threshing of mustard should be postponed for 3–4 days. Do not sow cotton, mung, and urad at the moment. It is also advised to stop sowing vegetables. In addition, farmers should avoid spraying pesticides and keep animals in the shade with adequate water arrangements.

Narnaul and Rohtak the hottest: The effect of heat is increasing rapidly in Haryana. On April 17, temperatures crossed 40 degrees in several cities. Rohtak and Narnaul were the hottest, recording 41.7°C. In Gurugram, Palwal, and Mewat, the mercury also stayed above 40°C. However, due to rain, there was a slight drop in temperature, but the heat persists. According to the Meteorological Department, in the coming days, the temperature may increase by another 2–3 degrees, which could create heatwave-like conditions.
Minimum temperature 3 degrees above average: Night temperatures are also continuously rising in the state. Minimum temperatures were recorded above normal with an average increase of 3.2°C. In many cities, it reached 24–25°C, keeping the nights warm as well. The lowest temperature was recorded at Hathinikund at 20.4°C. Due to hot nights, people are not getting relief, and the risk of heat stress is increasing. According to the Meteorological Department, currently minimum temperatures will remain around normal, but a gradual increase is possible.
