Heatwave alert in 6 Haryana districts, temp hits 43°C

This time, a yellow alert for warm nights has been issued in Haryana. Along with the days, the nights are also increasing the heat instead of providing relief. For the first time, the Meteorological Department has issued a warm night alert.

Nights will also remain warm in southern Haryana areas such as Narnaul, Rewari, Palwal, Nuh, Charkhi Dadri, and Rohtak. In addition, apart from Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Hisar, a heatwave alert has been issued for the entire state of Haryana.

According to the Meteorological Department, a heatwave warning has been issued for different parts of the state until April 25. On April 26, another western disturbance is expected to be active in the state, which may bring rain along with hail. This has caused a drop in temperature. According to data, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Faridabad at 42.9°C, while the coldest night was in Karnal at 18°C.

What is a warm night
When the minimum temperature at night remains significantly higher than normal (usually 4-5°C more) and the body does not get any cooldown. This increases heat stress and health risks.

Advisory for farmers regarding heat
Considering the changing weather and increasing heat, the Meteorological Department has given several important advices to farmers. Farmers have been asked to monitor yellow rust and termites in wheat crops, while for aphid (green bug) control, spraying neem-based or recommended pesticides has been advised.

They have also been asked to keep an eye on pests in mustard and rapeseed and spray as needed. Emphasis has been given on disease control and increasing irrigation in fruit plants, especially citrus. Farmers in the Hisar region have been advised to delay mustard harvesting for a few days due to changing weather and to temporarily postpone the sowing of crops like cotton and moong.

Daytime temperature 1.8°C above normal: The heat is continuously increasing in the state. On average, the maximum temperature was recorded 1.8°C above normal. The highest temperature of 42.9°C was recorded in Faridabad (Bhopani). Additionally, Bhiwani recorded 42.5°C, Narnaul 42.0°C, and Gurugram and Sirsa around 41°C. In several cities including Rohtak, Hisar, and Karnal, the temperature remained between 39 and 40°C. According to the Meteorological Department, an increase of 3-4°C in temperature is possible in the next 3-4 days, which could make the heatwave situation more severe.

Slight drop in minimum temperature: The effect of heat is now also visible in nighttime temperatures. On average, a slight decrease (-0.5°C) in minimum temperature was recorded, but it remains around normal. The lowest temperature of 18°C was recorded in Karnal. Hisar recorded 20.4°C, Rohtak 24°C, Gurugram 23.5°C, and Narnaul 26°C. The Meteorological Department says that nights may become warmer in the coming days, reducing relief for people.
