Haryana heat alert: 42.5°C, Narnaul hottest, farm advisory

The weather in Haryana has started showing its harsh moods. In several parts of the state, along with the heat of the sun, nights have also begun to make people sweat. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heatwave and warm nights in many districts of the state until April 24.

According to the bulletin issued by the Chandigarh Weather Center, a ‘Yellow Alert’ for heatwave has been issued in 13 districts of the state, while a warning for warm nights has been given in 8 cities. The heat is especially being felt more in the districts of South and West Haryana.

Talking about the temperature, the night temperature in the state has remained up to 1.7°C above normal. In 7 cities, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 24 degrees Celsius or above, which is increasing the discomfort of the nights. These include Bhiwani, Nuh, Narnaul, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala, and Rohtak.

Advisory issued for farmers

Mustard Harvest: Farmers have been advised to stop harvesting and threshing mustard for the next 3-4 days. Keep the harvested crops tied in bundles safely to prevent damage from strong winds.
Sowing Halt: Sowing of cotton, green gram, black gram, and vegetables (okra, bottle gourd, cucumber) is advised to be postponed for 3 days.
Irrigation and Spraying: Regularly irrigate fruit trees (guava, lemon, ber). However, for the next 3 days, it is advised to avoid any kind of pesticide spraying.
Livestock: Keep animals in shaded and ventilated shelters during the daytime and provide them with sufficient clean water to protect them from heat stress.
Maximum Temperature Increase by 1.1°C: Daytime temperatures in Haryana have risen rapidly. An average increase of 1.1°C in maximum temperature has been observed, which is 2.3°C above normal. Narnaul was the hottest city in the state at 42.5°C. Rohatak recorded 42.2°C, Sirsa 41.6°C, and Hisar 41.2°C.

The Meteorological Department estimates that the maximum temperature may increase by another 3-4°C over the next 5 days. Due to the intense heat, there is a possibility of heatwaves during the day, which may affect public life.

Lowest temperature in Yamunanagar: Night temperatures have also risen by 0.7°C. The state’s average minimum temperature is running 1.7°C above normal. While the night temperature in Faridabad reached 27.2°C, it was recorded at the lowest 18.9°C in Yamunanagar. In cities like Ambala, Gurugram, and Narnaul, night temperatures were 3.7°C to 4.8°C above normal.

This increase is creating a ‘warm night’ situation, due to which people are not getting relief from the heat even at night.
