Haryana: Karnal man commits suicide after harassment by wife’s family

Sahil, a 27-year-old resident of Hansi Road, Gali No. 11, Karnal, committed suicide by consuming poison. The deceased’s father, Anil, stated that Sahil had been married three years ago. The matchmaker took 50,000 rupees from him for the marriage.

The victim’s father stated that Sahil’s in-laws were pressuring him to buy property. He explained that Sahil’s wife lived at her parents’ home. Whenever Sahil went to pick her up, her in-laws beat him and later filed a complaint at the police station, accusing him of dowry harassment.

Unable to endure this harassment, Sahil committed suicide. Police have registered a case based on the victim’s father’s complaint. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The matter is under investigation.
