Haryana: Major police crackdown on drug smugglers; poppy husk worth ₹3 crore seized, 6 arrested

The police in Kaithal have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against drug smugglers. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Detective Unit (SDU) team seized approximately 19.5 quintals of poppy husk, estimated to be worth around ₹3 crore in the international market.

Major Operation in Kalayat Area

DSP Rohtash stated that the SDU team conducted this operation in the Kalayat area based on secret information. In addition to seizing the large consignment of poppy husk, the police have detained six individuals in connection with the case.

The DSP mentioned that interrogation of the accused is currently underway. Authorities are trying to determine the source of the drug consignment and its intended destination. Efforts are also being made to identify other individuals linked to this smuggling network.

The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further revelations are expected following the interrogation. The accused will soon be produced in court to seek their remand, aiming to fully expose the network.
