Haryana: Massive fire at BJP leader’s agro-factory on Meerut Road in Karnal; plumes of smoke fill sky

A massive fire broke out suddenly on Saturday at the ‘Shri Ram Agro’ factory owned by Satish Gupta, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chairman of the Haryana Traders’ Welfare Board—located on Meerut Road. The fire was so intense that it quickly escalated, engulfing the entire premises. Following the incident, plumes of black smoke were visible from several kilometers away. Upon receiving news of the fire, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

Panic ensued among the employees working at the factory when flames were suddenly seen rising from the premises. Initially, the staff made every effort to extinguish the fire themselves, but the intensity was such that the flames spiraled out of control. Realizing the situation was worsening, they immediately alerted the local police and the fire department.

Fire tenders and police personnel rushed to the site upon receiving the information. Sub-Inspector Tarsem Singh stated that the police team took charge immediately upon arrival and, working alongside fire personnel, launched a concerted effort to bring the blaze under control.

Major Blast Averted Through Prompt Action; Nearby Petrol Pumps Evacuated
Several drums filled with chemicals were stored inside the factory. Had the fire reached these drums, a massive explosion could have occurred. However, thanks to the prompt action taken by the employees and the rescue team, the chemical drums were safely removed in time, averting a major disaster.

One Side of the Road Closed
As a safety measure, the administration took immediate action by completely closing one side of Meerut Road and diverting traffic. Additionally, petrol pumps located near the factory were immediately evacuated as a precaution to prevent any untoward incident.
