Haryana: People stressed over non-availability of cylinders; stage protest by blocking Highway in Fatehabad

Frustrated by the unavailability of gas cylinders, consumers staged a blockade on the State Highway on Thursday morning. The consumers maintained the blockade for one hour—from approximately 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, and raised slogans against the administration. Consequently, the route connecting Fatehabad and Ratia to Budhlada in Punjab was disrupted.

Upon receiving the information, Naib Tehsildar Rashwinder Singh and Station House Officer (SHO) Pushpa Sihag arrived at the scene; they spoke with the agency officials, offered assurances, and successfully persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade.

The agency operators stated that the delivery vehicle was expected to arrive by evening, enabling them to resume supplies the following morning. The consumers revealed that they had been making continuous rounds of the gas agencies for the past three to four days. They complained that they were receiving neither cylinders nor any satisfactory explanation.

Exasperated by this persistent issue, they staged the highway blockade to register their protest against the administration. Anil Kumar, Dayal Ram, Mohit, Amit, and other protesters stated that they have been queuing up as early as 4:00 AM, yet they remain unable to procure cylinders.

They asserted that they would not lift the blockade until gas cylinders were made available to them, noting that the lack of cylinders was causing them significant hardship. The officials who arrived at the scene also issued directives to the agency operators, instructing them to provide clear and precise information to the consumers.
