Haryana: The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau has ramped up its operations to eliminate drug trafficking networks, including their online presence and financial infrastructure, as part of its mission to make the state drug-free.
Chairing the fifth bi-monthly review meeting on Friday, Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh said Haryana Police will move beyond routine seizures and focus on dismantling the sources, networks, and funding channels that sustain the drug trade.
βOur mission is not only to arrest offenders but to completely dismantle the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking β be it cyber networks, funding channels, or on-ground gangs. This is not merely a duty but a moral responsibility toward our society,β he said, warning officers against any negligence in anti-drug operations.
Focus on Cyber Surveillance, Financial Trails, and Public Awareness
The DGP outlined key priorities for the coming months, including enhanced surveillance on cyber drug transactions, closer coordination with state and central agencies, deeper financial investigations, and widespread awareness campaigns in rural areas to protect youth from addiction.
A performance-based evaluation and incentive system will also be introduced for all units to ensure accountability and efficiency.
From January to October, the bureau registered 232 FIRs and arrested 422 accused persons, including 63 cases involving commercial quantities β accounting for over 16 per cent of such cases in the state. Since 2020, 1,712 FIRs have been filed and 2,994 people arrested under the NDPS Act.
Financial Crackdown and Cross-Border Coordination
To strike at the financial roots of the drug trade, assets worth βΉ10.43 crore belonging to 104 traffickers were frozen under Section 68F of the NDPS Act in 2025 alone. Between 2022 and 2025, 113 such properties were identified and destroyed.
The bureau also intensified inter-state and international operations, arresting 436 inter-state and 27 international traffickers β including 22 Nigerian nationals β between January and October 2025.
Preventive detention orders under the PITNDPS Act have been issued against 62 offenders, primarily from Dabwali, Kaithal, and Fatehabad districts.
Out of 1,185 NDPS cases adjudicated across Haryana this year, 575 convictions were secured, reflecting the bureauβs stronger investigative focus and commitment to sustained legal follow-up.
