Several districts of Haryana witnessed sudden weather changes as rain and thunderstorms swept through many areas of the state. Cities including Gurugram, Hisar and Rohtak experienced heavy thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds, while Rewari reported hailstorm activity.

The sudden rainfall brought relief from rising temperatures but also caused inconvenience in several places. Gusty winds and lightning were reported in many districts, leading to temporary disruptions in traffic and daily activities. According to weather officials, the change in weather conditions was triggered by a western disturbance affecting north India.

Meteorologists said light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds was expected in several districts as the weather system continued to influence the region.

Hailstorm reported in Rewari district

Among the affected areas, Rewari witnessed a brief hailstorm that surprised residents and farmers. Small hailstones were reported in parts of the district along with strong winds and rainfall.

Residents said the storm developed quickly in the afternoon and was accompanied by thunder and lightning. Though the hailstorm lasted only a short time, it raised concerns among farmers because crops in several regions are nearing the harvesting stage.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and collecting reports about any possible damage caused by the sudden weather activity.

Heavy thunderstorm hits Gurugram, Hisar and Rohtak

Strong thunderstorms were also recorded in Gurugram, Hisar and Rohtak, where dark clouds, lightning and gusty winds created storm-like conditions. In some areas, winds reached speeds of 30–40 kmph, making the weather unpredictable for a short period.

Local residents reported that visibility decreased during the storm and rain showers led to water accumulation in low-lying areas. The sudden weather shift also brought a slight drop in temperatures across the region.

Weather officials indicated that such thunderstorms are common during seasonal transitions, particularly when western disturbances interact with warmer air in the plains.

Crops affected in GT Road belt

Farmers in the GT Road belt of Haryana reported damage to standing crops due to strong winds and rainfall. Crops such as wheat and mustard, which are currently close to the harvesting stage, were affected in several fields.

Strong winds flattened parts of the crop in some villages, making harvesting more difficult for farmers. Agricultural experts warn that heavy rain or hail at this stage can reduce crop quality and yield.

Farmers have expressed concern about potential financial losses if such weather conditions continue in the coming days.

Weather department predicts further rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that unstable weather conditions may continue in parts of Haryana for the next few days. More spells of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are possible as the western disturbance remains active over north India.

The rainfall is expected to bring a temperature drop of around 3–5 degrees Celsius, providing temporary relief from the early summer heat. However, officials have advised farmers and residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds.

For now, while the rain has cooled the weather in many districts, it has also created anxiety among farmers whose crops are vulnerable during the final stage before harvest.
