The notification, issued on the orders of Governor Aasim Ghosh, states that the new name will come into force from 1 December for all official purposes.
The order follows approval conveyed through the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India.
The renaming applies to the Governor’s official residence in Chandigarh and is part of a broader trend seen across various states, where governments have recently renamed institutions such as Lokayuktas and Raj Bhavans to adopt people-centric and locally resonant nomenclature.
The notification was signed by Dusmanta Kumar Butera, Secretary to the Governor, and dated 1 December, confirming the change with immediate effect.
