Cold day-like conditions prevailed here:

 A yellow alert for cold wave has been issued in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, and Hisar. People here will not get any relief from the chill. This winter has broken records for many years. Meanwhile, cold day-like conditions prevailed in Ambala, Karnal, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Panipat, and Sonipat in Haryana. The mercury in Ambala dropped to -8.8 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Hisar are also hovering in the negative.

Dense fog has also caused a dire situation in Ambala. Vehicle speeds have been slowed, and drivers are facing significant difficulties. The temperature here has been recorded at 5 degrees at night and 12 degrees during the day. The dense fog and harsh cold have severely disrupted public life, affecting both rail and road traffic.

However, farmers are happy. This weather has been a boon for wheat and mustard. The lack of rain and the harsh cold are damaging many crops, particularly the tomato crop. Meanwhile, the AQI has also been recorded in the very poor category, with the city’s AQI exceeding 349.

Weather Outlook: Rain Expected After January 19

According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions are expected to remain the same for the next two days. Temperatures in almost all cities of Haryana are hovering near zero. Cold northwest winds are expected to cause a slight drop in night temperatures and a slight increase in daytime temperatures. Rain is also expected after January 19th. Fog will continue to affect many districts on January 16th and 17th. The severe cold will persist until January 18th. After January 19th, light rain is expected in most areas.

Cold Wave Disrupts Life in Chandigarh

Talking about Chandigarh weather, according to the Meteorological Department, the city residents will have to face cold wave for two days. Cold wave and dense fog have wreaked havoc in Chandigarh. Flights to Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune have been cancelled. Meanwhile, a total of 22 flights were cancelled till around 10 pm on Wednesday night. The dense fog is also affecting road traffic.

Visibility Remains Poor in Chandigarh

Visibility is being greatly affected due to the dense fog. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry till January 17. On Thursday morning, the temperature in Chandigarh reached 5 degrees.
