Haryana: Two friends die of electrocution in Sirsa; came into contact with an 11,000-volt power line while harvesting crops

Two youths died of electrocution while harvesting maize in a field in Burj Karmgarh village, located in the Rori area of ​​Sirsa. The accident plunged both families into mourning. The victims 19-year-old Davinder Singh and 19-year-old Daljit Singh, both residents of Rori were friends and the only sons of their respective families.

According to reports, Davinder Singh and Daljit Singh were harvesting the maize crop in Burj Karmgarh village to prepare maize silage. After harvesting the crop, they climbed onto a trolley and came into contact with an 11,000-volt power line passing overhead. They suffered severe burns upon being struck by the high-voltage current. Bystanders attempted to save them, but both had already succumbed to their injuries.

Upon receiving news of the accident, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examinations. The incident cast a pall of gloom over the village. The families are devastated by the loss of the two youths. The relatives of the deceased have accused the electricity department of gross negligence, stating that the 11,000-volt line passing over the field hangs dangerously low, creating a constant risk of accidents.

Despite repeated demands to raise the height of the line or relocate it, the department took no action. The families have demanded that an FIR be registered against the responsible officials of the electricity department, legal action be taken, and appropriate compensation be provided to the families. The police stated that the matter is under investigation and that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and the complaint filed by the families.
