Haryana Weather Alert: Storm, Rain Warning for 18 Districts as Temperature Drops 5°C

Hisar: Haryana has received significant relief from the scorching heat and heatwave conditions that had persisted for the past few days. A shift in the weather, bringing strong winds and rain over the last 24 hours, has led to a sharp drop in temperatures.

Narnaul experienced rain accompanied by strong winds on Saturday morning. Heavy rainfall occurred late at night in Rewari, Mahendragarh, Hisar, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, and Faridabad. In Faridabad, a large section of a house collapsed following the rain. A storm the previous day had already caused considerable damage in Fatehabad and Hisar. In Kurukshetra, a shopkeeper died due to electrocution.

According to Meteorological Department data, the state’s average maximum temperature has dropped to 5.1°C below normal, and the average minimum temperature is 4.9°C below normal. This change in weather has resulted in cooler nights.

The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the southern and western parts of Haryana today, covering districts such as Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Panipat, Sonipat, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Nuh. These areas are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h.

House section collapses in Faridabad

On Friday evening, a large portion of an old, dilapidated house in the Azad Nagar area of ​​Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, collapsed onto the street. People rushed out of their homes after hearing a loud noise. No one was inside the house at the time of the incident. The house was approximately 40–50 years old.

The spell of light rain is expected to continue on June 14. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for the western districts of Haryana Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar for Sunday, as conditions may lead to dust storms and thunderstorms. The weather is expected to clear up thereafter on June 15 and 16.
