Haryana Monsoon Slows Down: Westerly Winds to Raise Temperatures, Hisar Records 38.3°C

Chandigarh: Monsoon activity is likely to weaken across Haryana from September 8, with westerly winds expected to push temperatures higher over the next few days, according to the latest weather assessment from the Meteorological Department and the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar.

The weather is likely to remain variable until September 12, with partly cloudy conditions and only isolated chances of rain or thunderstorms in some areas. The weakening monsoon activity is expected to contribute to a rise in daytime temperatures.

Hisar records 38.3°C, 2.6 degrees above normal

According to data from the Meteorological Centre, Chandigarh, Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 38.3°C on September 7, which was 2.6°C above normal. The IMD recorded no rainfall in Hisar during the preceding 24-hour period.

Other high maximum temperatures recorded across the state included 36.5°C in Bhiwani, 36.3°C in Charkhi Dadri, 35.9°C in Sirsa and 35.4°C in the Faridabad-Palwal area.

The state’s average maximum temperature rose by around 2.7°C over the preceding 24 hours, according to the weather data cited in the report.

Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 22.8°C in Bawal, Rewari.

Westerly winds likely to increase daytime heat

According to Dr Madan Khichar, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at CCS HAU, monsoon activity is likely to decrease from September 8 under the influence of the monsoon trough and a low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh.

The weather is expected to remain changeable until September 12, with intermittent partial cloudiness. Westerly winds are likely to contribute to a further rise in daytime temperatures, while isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms may occur in some areas.

The northern limit of the monsoon trough is currently extending from Sri Ganganagar through Narnaul, Dehri, Purulia and Digha to the northeastern Bay of Bengal, according to the weather assessment.

No weather warning for Haryana

The IMD’s Chandigarh centre has not issued any weather warning for Haryana from September 8 to September 13.

For Hisar, the IMD forecast indicates partly cloudy skies, with maximum temperatures around 36°C on September 8 and 37°C from September 9 to 11, before easing slightly to around 36°C on September 12 and 13.

The developing weather pattern indicates that Haryana may see a temporary reduction in widespread monsoon activity, even as isolated showers remain possible in parts of the state.
