Clouds Over Haryana, Drizzle Likely; Nights Turn Colder

The weather in Haryana is once again changing, affecting normal daily life and agricultural activities directly. Currently, clouds are covering the sky in several parts of the state, including Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, and Bhiwani.

Although the average minimum temperature has increased slightly by 0.6 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, it is still 3.2 degrees lower than normal, causing unusual cold during the nights.

According to the meteorological department, this instability in the weather may continue for the next few days, with the possibility of strong winds (25-35 km per hour) and a drop in daytime temperature by 2 to 3 degrees. Observing this changing pattern, agricultural experts have advised farmers to take special precautions and temporarily refrain from new sowing and harvesting.

Experts said – A new western disturbance will arrive tomorrow

According to Dr. Madan Kheechad, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, the weather will generally remain dry but variable until April 14. On the night of April 12, a new western disturbance will become active.

Due to its effect, partial clouds may appear on April 13-14. The direction and speed of the winds will change intermittently. There will be a slight increase in daytime temperatures and a drop at night. This change may also keep the mornings and evenings cool in the coming days.

What farmers should and should not do

Due to cloud cover and weather changes, an advisory has been issued by the meteorological department. Farmers are advised to suspend mustard harvesting and threshing work for the next 3 to 4 days. Farmers have been asked to tie the harvested crops properly with ropes to prevent them from scattering in the fields due to strong winds.

Considering the uncertainty of the weather, postpone the sowing of summer vegetables like okra, bottle gourd, cucumber, and cluster bean for now. Similarly, do not sow moong and urad for the next 4 days. Keep monitoring yellow rust and leaf blight in the wheat crop.

If there is an insect attack, spray the recommended pesticides only when the weather is clear. Keep the animals well under ventilated shade during the day and night. Give them 50 grams of iodized salt and mineral mixture daily to maintain their immunity.
