Yellow Alert Issued for Rain and Storms in 10 Haryana Districts; Winds Up to 60 km/h Expected, Weather to Worsen Again from June 4

Haryana: For the past three days, the weather in Haryana has deteriorated due to south-westerly winds blowing in from Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for today as well, warning of storms, gusty winds, and lightning across 10 districts: Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panchkula, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Palwal, and Nuh. Winds in these areas could reach speeds of up to 60 kmph.

Meanwhile, according to weather experts, the onset of the monsoon in Haryana is expected to be delayed this year. Residents will likely have to wait for more than a month for the monsoon to arrive.

On Saturday, 10 districts: Panchkula, Fatehabad, Karnal, Panipat, Hisar, Hansi, Jind, Sonipat, Sirsa, and Faridabad witnessed rainfall accompanied by gusty winds. Conversely, Narnaul and its surrounding areas experienced dusty winds.

During the ‘Nautapa’ period, temperatures in several parts of the country have soared above 45°C. High temperatures and humidity create an environment conducive to the proliferation of bacteria and fungi. This leads to an increase in skin-related issues such as ringworm, itching, and rashes. Consequently, it is crucial to identify symptoms early on and take appropriate preventive measures.

Weather to Worsen Again from June 4

According to Dr. Madan Khichad, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, another Western Disturbance is expected to arrive in Haryana around June 4. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall may occur across the state.

Meanwhile, one will have to wait for over a month for the arrival of the monsoon. The monsoon typically sets in after July 1. However, due to a delay in the monsoon’s progress this year, it may arrive in Haryana about a week later than usual.

Daytime Mercury Drops by 8.9 Degrees

On Saturday, heavy rainfall led to a further decline of 1.7°C in Haryana’s average maximum temperature, pushing the daytime mercury 8.9°C below the seasonal normal. Temperatures of 30.8°C and 33.5°C were recorded in Ambala and Rohtak, respectively. However, amidst this relief, Faridabad was recorded as the hottest region in the entire state, registering a temperature of 37.8°C.

Nights and mornings are getting cooler

Driven by strong, cool winds and rainfall, the state’s average minimum temperature also dropped by 1.1°C; it now stands 2.6°C below the seasonal normal. Among the plains of Haryana, the lowest minimum temperature, 20.9°C, was recorded in Mahendragarh. Additionally, minimum temperatures of 27.0°C in Sirsa and 26.6°C in Ambala provided significant relief to residents from the prevailing humidity.
