Haryana: Youth riddled with bullets in broad daylight to avenge brother’s murder; police searching for attackers

A long-standing feud has emerged as the motive behind the murder of Pankaj—a resident of Sunaria, Rohtak—in the Premnagar Colony of Charkhi Dadri on Saturday afternoon. Investigations revealed that Pankaj had killed a young man in 2022; seeking revenge for this, the victim’s brother, Robin, along with his associates, executed the murder. On Sunday, the police registered an FIR against the accused, including one named individual. Four police teams are currently searching for the assailants.

Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Bhim Singh from the City Police Station stated that the post-mortem of the deceased, Pankaj, was conducted at the Civil Hospital on Sunday, and the body was handed over to his family. A case has been registered against the accused—including one named individual—under various sections, including murder, based on the statement given by his mother, Birmati.

Shot Dead in the Middle of the Road

Investigations revealed that Pankaj had previously killed Robin’s brother, a resident of Gochhi village. Pankaj was murdered due to this enmity. On Saturday, on Dhani Road in Premnagar Colony, miscreants in a Scorpio vehicle rammed into Pankaj, who was riding a motorcycle, knocking him to the ground. He was subsequently shot dead.

Four Cartridge Shells Recovered from the Scene

During the police investigation, four cartridge shells were recovered from the crime scene. SI Bhim Singh stated that the exact number of bullets that struck Pankaj would only be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received. The police have collected evidence from the scene and sent it for forensic examination.
