Chandigarh: 10 districts of Haryana are going to get 50 new e-buses on 26 January. For this, 500 e-buses have been purchased by the government. These buses have high-tech systems installed. In view of security, every bus has 4 CCTV cameras at the front and back and an in-built tracking system. Giving this information, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said that electric buses will be operated locally in Haryana on the lines of metropolitan cities.
These buses will be launched in Ambala by Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij by flagging off on the occasion of Republic Day on 26 January.
Buses purchased under this scheme
Transport Minister Anil Vij said that with the aim of zero emission public transport system, State Transport Haryana has decided to start environment friendly electric buses for operation in the state of Haryana to achieve the National Electric Mobility Mission (NMEM) under the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 (NEMMP) of the Government of India.
Electric buses will run in these cities
Transport Minister Anil Vij said that the government has decided to buy 50-50 e-buses for 10 municipal corporations Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Hisar, Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) and Faridabad Metropolitan City Bus Limited (FMDA), thus a total of 500 buses will be taken.
It will have zero noise pollution and will be pollution free
Transport Minister Anil Vij said that along with repair and maintenance of electric buses, there will also be charging infrastructure, other equipment, plant, spare/service kit. The operation of electric buses is a big achievement for the state government, as it is a unique project of any state in the entire country.
Not only will the citizens of these cities benefit from the city bus service, but there will be zero pollution and zero noise pollution due to the presence of electric buses. Separate city bus service depots are being constructed in all 09 cities and the government has already ordered 375 buses.
Many features in electric buses
Electric buses will have 45 seats for passengers as well as 18 passengers will be able to stand. These buses will have facilities like display board for stops etc. for information about passengers, 4 CCTV cameras, panic button, announcement speaker, in-built tracking system etc.
Will run in Ambala City and Cantt
Anil Vij said that five electric buses will be included in the local bus service running between Ambala Cantonment and Ambala city. Currently, 15 mini buses are being operated by the Transport Department under the local bus service in Ambala, which will now also include five electric buses. New electric buses will run on the old local routes.
Modern electric buses will be pollution free and air conditioned. With the introduction of electric buses, residents of Ambala will experience convenient and smooth travel.
