Gurugram: A 5-year-old child died after drowning in a swimming pool in BPTP Park Shirin, a posh society in Sector-37D of Gurugram in Haryana. When another woman from the society who had come to swim in the swimming pool saw the child lying in the pool, she shouted and gathered people.
CCTV footage of this incident has also surfaced. It shows that the child drowns a few moments after getting into the water. The lifeguard walking near the pool also does not pay attention to him. The police were informed about the incident. After this, the police have started taking action.
After the incident, the child’s grandfather filed a case against the lifeguard, club manager, pool operator, security supervisor, and security guard.
The child’s grandfather, Sitaram Singhla, has told in his complaint to the police that he lives here with his wife, Rama Singhla, son Ravi Singhla, daughter-in-law, Ashu Devi, 2 granddaughters, Rushdau and Rushda, and grandson Mivansh. On Wednesday evening around 6:15, Mivansh went swimming in the swimming pool with his grandmother.
Sitiram told me that there are 3 pools in the society. One of 1.5 feet, one of 3 feet, and one of 4 feet. Out of these, children are allowed to enter only the 1.5-foot pool. To ensure that this rule is not broken, 5 lifeguards—Naresh, Ankit, Mintu, Sachin, and Durga; club manager Dev Raghav and Tapan; pool operator Sumit; security supervisor Rajendra; and security guards Kapil, Vikas, and Rajkumar—have been deployed in the society.
The child’s grandfather says that when Mivansh’s grandmother came upstairs to get some food for him, the child went into the 4-foot swimming pool. No responsible person saw him. When he got into the water, he drowned within a few moments. Sitaram has demanded action against all those responsible.
Here, it can be seen in the CCTV that the child slowly descends into the swimming pool. There is a lifeguard near him, but he is not paying attention to the child. The child drowned within a few moments of descending. After a while, when a woman from the society came to the pool with her child, she saw something floating in the pool.
When she came closer and saw, she started shouting. Hearing the noise, people reached the spot, and the lifeguard who was roaming around also came. He immediately took the child out of the pool. The lifeguard first tried to revive the child by pressing his chest.
When it did not have any effect on the child, he took the child out and took him away. He admitted him to the hospital. The child died there. At the same time, Gurugram Sector-10 police station reached the spot after getting information about the accident and started investigating.
