8 containers fall from freight train in Karnal, trains on the route affected

Passenger trains running on this route have been cancelled, while express trains have been diverted.

Karnal: In Haryana’s Karnal on Tuesday morning, about 8 containers fell from a freight train running near Tarawadi railway station. Power lines and railway tracks have been damaged due to the falling of the containers. The railway authorities have stopped the trains running between Delhi and Amritsar. The train was going from Delhi to Amritsar. Railway employees were present at the spot, the reason is not yet known.

Passenger trains running on this route have been cancelled, while express trains have been diverted. The operation of freight trains has been stopped. 60 to 70 trains go up and down on this route daily.

After receiving information, Government Railway Police (GRP) and railway officials reached the spot. Containers are being removed from the track. There is also information that the rear wheels of the freight train have derailed. Although the railway authorities have not confirmed it, preliminary investigations have revealed that the accident occurred due to a broken axle. After the shock, the boxes fell from the freight train.

According to railway officials, the goods train was going from Chandigarh to Delhi on Tuesday morning. At around 4.23 am, a truck driver passing by the flyover near Tarawadi railway station called 112 and reported that the container had fallen. After this, the police informed the railway authorities about the incident. After this all reached the spot.
