Haryana: A woman sleeping in the community centre premises of Bahadurpura village of Kurukshetra was strangled to death at midnight. The deceased woman has been identified as 38-year-old Savitri, originally from Uttar Pradesh. Before the incident, the accused also beat up the woman’s husband and locked the two sleeping children in the room. The police have taken the body into custody and started an investigation.
Khemkaran resident of village Dharampur Mathura district Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, in a statement given to the police, said that he works as a mason. He lives in the village community centre with his family. He has three sons, out of which the eldest son Ajay works in a private job in Banaras, while the two children live with him. Rambir, a youth from his native village, had been in contact with his wife for about one and a half years and he had lured her and taken her to Mohali, Punjab with the intention of marriage.
He kept her there for about 14 months and somehow his wife got free from him. Since then Rambir was threatening them. Like every day, they slept last night. Around 12.30 in the night, two young men came there and he woke up hearing their voice. He recognized one of the young men as Rambir. When he opposed their coming to him at night, they threatened to kill him and started beating him. Meanwhile, the accused locked the two sons sleeping in the room from outside.
Somehow getting free from the beating of the accused, he went to the back side of the community center and saw that both the accused picked up his wife and took her to the park located there and after some time fled from there. When he went there and saw, his wife Savitri was lying unconscious. When he raised an alarm, the people around also gathered and immediately took his wife Savitri to the hospital, where the doctors declared her dead. It was told that she died due to strangulation. On the other hand, the police also reached the spot on receiving the information and took the body in their custody. On the complaint, a case has been registered against both the accused under various sections including murder and investigation has been started.
