A case of cheating the department by the conductor of the Karnal depot of Roadways has come to light. The conductor took money from the passengers but did not issue them tickets and continued to make them travel.

When the flying squad inspected near Ganaur, the theft was detected. After this, the accused conductor handed over unpunched tickets to the inspection staff. On the complaint of the GM of Karnal Roadways, the City Police Station has registered a case against the conductor.

In the complaint given to the police, Roadways GM Kuldeep told that the conductor of Karnal depot, Manoj Kumar is working on bus number HR 45 GV 4597. This bus runs on the Karnal to Delhi and Delhi to Jalandhar route. The bus has a night stay in Jalandhar itself. On March 2, when the bus reached near Ganaur while coming from Delhi, the flying squad of the inspection staff of the Transport Department Haryana ISBT Delhi stopped the bus and inspected it. During the investigation, four passengers were found traveling without tickets from Delhi to Jalandhar in the bus. When the flying squad asked conductor Manoj Kumar about this, he could not give any satisfactory answer. Neither had the conductor issued tickets to them.

He said that if the bus was not checked, the conductor would have embezzled the government money by taking Rs 2040 from the passengers after reaching the destination. He demanded action from the police.

During the interrogation, the passengers told the investigation team that they had asked the conductor to give them tickets, but the conductor told them to wait for now and will give the tickets later. The passengers have also given a written statement to the investigation team about this. Later, the conductor, admitting his mistake, gave unpunched tickets (10/K-22 733593 to 733596, 50/B-23 569530 to 569569) to the inspection staff as proof.

As per the order of Staff Director State Transport Haryana, if any employee misappropriates government funds of more than Rs 2000, it comes under the category of embezzlement. As per departmental rules, it is mandatory to register a case against him. Under this rule, GM Roadways has given a complaint to the police for action.
