Agniveers of Haryana will now get 20 percent reservation in the police recruitment of the state. It has become the first state in the country to make such a provision. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently written a letter to CM Naib Saini recommending this. On Sunday, CM Saini announced this after a review meeting on reservation. The CM said that a separate portal will be created for the registration of Agniveers. They will be given preference in jobs on the basis of educational qualification. Similarly, the government will give 10 percent reservation in the jobs of forest guard, jail warder and mining guard in the forest department and five percent reservation in Group C recruitment.
At present, 5120 from Haryana are serving in the Army, Navy and Air Force. The scheme was started in the year 2022 and its first batch is to be completed in July 2026. Even before their retirement, the government has prepared a security cover policy for their future. It is worth mentioning that 2227 Agniveers were recruited during the year 2022-23 and 2893 in 2023-24.
The government will provide loans at affordable rates to Agniveers who wish to become self-employed or entrepreneurs. Along with this, the government will also provide an annual subsidy of Rs 60,000 to those industries which employ Agniveers at a monthly salary of more than Rs 30,000. Apart from this, Agniveers who want to serve as private security personnel will be given priority in granting gun licenses.
After completing four years of service, only 25 percent of the Agniveers of each batch will get a chance for regular jobs in the army based on their performance and conditions. Government jobs can prove to be a big option for the rest of the Agniveers. This step of the Haryana government is being considered a big decision towards securing the future of Agniveers. If this policy is implemented, the way will be opened for Agniveers to get priority in government jobs across the country.
