Ambala soldier tragic death in Leh, slips on snow during duty

The soldier's body will reach Sherpur today. 

Ambala: An army constable from Sherpur village in Ambala, Haryana, died after slipping on snow in Leh, Ladakh, during duty. The body of the jawan will reach Sherpur village on Friday. Police said that Gurpreet Singh (32), a resident of Sherpur village, was posted in the Indian Army. At present, he was on duty in Leh.

During the patrol, Gurpreet Singh slipped on snow fell into the canal and was seriously injured. Army constables took Gurpreet Singh to the hospital in an injured state. Gurpreet Singh breathed his last during treatment there. On Thursday, the Army informed Gurpreet Singh’s family about his death.

As soon as the news of Gurpreet Singh’s death was received, mourning spread in Sherpur. Gurpreet’s body has been medically examined at Leh Hospital. On Friday, Gurpreet Singh’s body will be brought from Ambala to his village, Sherpur, in an army vehicle. Their family members and other relatives will be able to see the jawan for the last time.

An army contingent will salute Gurpreet Singh’s body. After this, Gurpreet Singh’s body will be cremated.
