Chandigarh: Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir Results LIVE Updates:
BJP has once again shown its magic in Haryana. BJP is going to form the government for the third time in the state with an absolute majority. Defying the exit poll figures. With the help of non-Jat votes in Jatland, BJP has scored a hat-trick in Haryana. while on the other hand the issues raised like Agniveer, Unemloyments etc by the Congress party has rejected by the Haryana people.
Haryana voters given their verdic in the favour of BJP. Surprisingly people also rejected the regional parties. In this election the voters have neglected the Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). Party Has the Zero Score on election tally even the party chief Dushyant Chautala Also defeated.
On the Other hand In J&K it was mixed fortunes for the J&K unit chiefs of the Congress and the BJP in the Assembly elections as results came out on Tuesday. While Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra secured 18,933 votes to win the Central Shalateng seat in the Srinagar district by a huge margin of 14,395 votes, defeating his nearest Independent rival, Muhammad Irfan Shah, who got only 4,538 votes, his BJP counterpart Ravinder Raina was not that lucky.
BJP president Raina lost the election
Raina lost to Surinder Kumar Choudhary of the National Conference in the Nowshera seat of the Rajouri district by a margin of 7,819 votes. While the BJP chief, who was the sitting MLA, secured 27,250 votes, the NC candidate got 35,069. Manohar Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party was third with 1,456 votes, while Haq Nawaz of the Peoples Democratic Party got only 425 votes.
Meanwhile, Karra’s predecessors as Congress chiefs of J&K also had mixed results. His immediate predecessor Vikar Rasool Wani, who held the post from August 2022 to August 2024 and was the sitting MLA, badly lost the Banihal seat- one of the five where the Congress and the National Conference decided to have a ‘friendly fight’ – in Ramban district to the NC’s Sajad Shaheen. Shaheen secured 33,128 votes to defeat his nearest rival Imtiaz Ahmed Shan, of the PDP, who got 2,7018 votes, by a margin of 6,110, but Wani was in third place with 20,458. BJP’s Mohd Saleem Bhat came fourth with 6,285 votes.
Other former Presidents of the Congress in J&K were luckier. Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who headed the Congress from 2015 to 2022, won the Dooru seat in the Anantnag district by a margin of 29,728 votes. While he secured 44,270 votes, his PDP rival Mohammad Ashrag Malik only managed 14,542, and Mohamad Saleen Paray of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party was a distant third with 2,877 votes, just marginally above the 2,662 NOTA votes.
The Congress wrested the seat from the PDP. Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed, who was at the helm from 2004 to 2008, won the Anantnag seat by a margin of 1,686 votes. He secured 6,679 votes against 4,993 of PDP’s Mehboob Beg and 4,245 of J&K Apni Party’s Hilal Ahmed Sheikh. The Congress has also wrested this seat from the PDP, whose chief Mehbooba Mufti had won it in 2014. Before her, it was represented by her father, party founder, and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
However, former Chief Minister and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who headed the party from 2002 to 2004 but left the Congress in August 2022 to launch his own Democratic Progressive Azad Party, saw it washed out in the polls.

Wait and see… shouldn’t make premature conclusion: MP Shashi Tharoor
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, “We have to wait and see…We shouldn’t make a premature conclusion right now…At the moment, they (BJP) seem to be leading in a majority of the seats (in Haryana) which is a genuine surprise. Certainly, the whole exit poll industry must be in a deep disgrace…Honestly, let us wait for the final results…My own feeling is that the signs in Haryana are not what we were expecting and are better than what INDIA block was expecting in Jammu & Kashmir.”
Mismatch between number of rounds counted and the data on EC Website: Pawan Khera
Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “There is a mismatch in the actual number of rounds counted and the number of rounds being shown on the television through the Election Commission data. The EC data is lagging behind, they are still showing 4th or the 5th found data while 11 rounds have been counted. Our General Secretary Communications has tweeted to the Election Commission asking – are trying to put pressure on the local administration by delaying the display and uploading of data. In J&K you are getting live data with every round counted but in Haryana, it is not so.”

On the other hand, in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress plus NC has maintained a clear lead as the alliance is leading on total of 49 seats and BJP is leading at 22 seats.
- Early trends show that Congress leader and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is ahead of his rivals in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district. Apart from that CM Nayab Saini is also ahead on Ladwa’s seat of the Kurukshetra constituency.
- Congress Workers distribute sweets as the trends turn in favor of Congress. Counting is underway in Jammu and Kashmir.
- Congress crosses the halfway mark as it leads on 50 seats in Haryana. BJP is leading on total 20 seats. BJP showed lead in the early trend but now Congress is seen making its way. In J&K, Congress+NC is leading on 40 seats whereas BJP is leading on 26 seats.
Counting has started for 90 assembly seats of Haryana. First of all, the counting of ballot papers is going on. Meanwhile, acting CM Nayab Saini offered prayers at Shri Dakshinmukhi Hanuman Temple at Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra. In the elections held on October 5, 67.90% of voting has taken place in the state, which is 0.03% less than the last election.
In the exit polls of 13 agencies, the Congress government is seen forming in Haryana. Congress can get 50 to 55 seats. But the trend in Haryana is going in favor of BJP. In fact, in the 5 assembly elections held in Haryana from 2000 to 2019, it happened twice that the voting percentage fell or there was a marginal increase of 1%. Both times a hung assembly situation was created in the state and the party in power at that time benefited from it.
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections
On the other hand if we talk about Jammu and Kashmir, Counting for 90 assembly also of Jammu and Kashmir also started at 8 am. It will be clear in a short while who will form the government in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. Counting on all seats will be completed by evening. 46 seats are required for majority.
63.88% voting took place in 3 phases from 18 September to 1 October in Jammu and Kashmir. In the last elections held 10 years ago i.e. in 2014, 65% voting took place, that is, this time 1.12% less voting took place. Apart from National Conference, Congress, BJP and PDP, small parties are in the contest.
In the exit polls released on October 5, 5 survey agencies had given majority to the National Conference and Congress government. At the same time, 5 exit polls have predicted a hung assembly. That means no party will get absolute majority. In such a situation, small parties and independent MLAs will be the kingmakers.
