Chandigarh: Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has cancelled the licenses of 16 flats. Around 18,138 flats have been allotted under the small flat scheme, including 2,000 flats under the affordable rental housing complex scheme.
These flats have been allotted based on a monthly license fee for the possession of allottees and their families. The flat cannot be sold or sublet. Neither can it be transferred nor handed over to anyone.
CHB believes that many allottees have not regularly paid the monthly license fee of Rs 800. Despite several show cause notices and demand notices, these licensees have not complied. CHB has made extensive efforts to motivate these licensees through notices, radio announcements, public announcements, and other means. Personal hearings are also offered from time to time.
These defaulters owe Rs 64 crore. The list of allottees with dues is regularly updated on the Chandigarh Housing Board website. Licensees can easily pay their dues through the online payment link provided on www.chbonline.in or at any contact center or HDFC Bank branch.
About 16 small flats have been cancelled this month as per Clause 16(a)(iii) of the Chandigarh Small Flats Scheme-2006. This clause provides that the competent authority has the right to cancel the allotment of small flats if the licensee fails to deposit the license fee despite notice of demand for the specified period.
The CHB advises all defaulters to pay their dues immediately. Failing which, the Chandigarh Housing Board will be compelled to cancel the allotment of small flats to the defaulters.
