Chandigarh Municipal Corporation: prepares software for water bill tracker

At the same time, there will be JAM software on every water pipeline.

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has developed such software. This software will give information about the water bill and where water is being wasted on the phone. The corporation has already made preparations to implement it. It will be implemented soon.

Consumer-friendly Water Jam software will also be installed in the 67 crore project to improve the supply from Kajauli Water Works. Not only the corporation but also a system to reduce the expenses of the customers has been separately developed in the project. This system will also give information about leakage in the main line as well as wastage of water in every house. Installing smart flow meters for this work will also help prevent water waste in every house.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anindita Mitra said that tertiary water is supplied for parks and lawns. In the new project, not only the drinking water pipeline is being replaced, but the 163-kilometer pipeline laid in the city to supply tertiary water will also be replaced.

Municipal Corporation engineer N. P. Sharma said that this project not only provides a 24-hour supply network but also that its priority is to provide clean water to the customer in all circumstances by preventing waste. The first and last priority is the customer. The entire system is being made consumer-friendly.

In the entire project, only tertiary water will be supplied to the parks of the city. By changing the 173-kilometer pipeline supplying tertiary water, at least 20 to 25 MGD of clean water can be saved. After allotting the tender for the entire new system, work will probably start on July 15.

A pipeline will be laid from the concerned water work, which will supply only one sector. At the same time, there will be JAM software on every water well, which will easily find out the supply not only to the sector but also to every house. In this process, leakage of the line as well as waste in private connections will also be found. Currently, 35 percent of the supply from Kajauli is getting wasted. In the new project, this has to be reduced to 20 percent.

One lakh and 76 thousand customers in the city will get double the benefit. First of all, the galvanized pipelines laid in front of the houses in the sectors will be removed from every water project. First, flow meters will be installed on the main line, which will tell where the leakage is. Every sector will be connected to Water Jam software, and smart meters will be installed for every customer’s connection. With the help of these meters, it will be known how much water is being wasted due to leakage inside a house. The customer will be informed about the leakage and bill over the phone.
