Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police caught 3 drug smugglers, they were smuggling under the guise of goat rearing, and 2.65 kg opium recovered.
Chandigarh Police has arrested three people in two separate cases of drug smuggling.
Chandigarh Police has imposed blockades at various places in the city given the Lok Sabha elections. During the blockade, the police arrested three people in two separate cases. Police have recovered 2.65 kg of hashish from these accused. In the second case, police have also seized 731 grams of hashish and 958 grams of opium. Police are interrogating the accused in both the cases.
According to information received from police sources, both the accused arrested in the first case are residents of Mohali district and they do goat rearing. Both of them started running away after seeing the police during police patrolling. On this issue police have arrested both the accused.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rajdeep Singh resident of Zirakpur and Baldev Singh resident of Zirakpur. Police have recovered 968 grams of charas from Rajdeep Singh and 952 grams of hashish from Baldev.
Police have arrested a person in another case. In this, the accused Gurjeet Singh is a resident of Ropar district of Punjab is a taxi driver. He tried to escape during the police checkpoint. But the police personnel present at the checkpoint caught it. When it and the vehicle were searched, the police recovered 731 grams of hashish and 958 grams of opium from its possession. The police is interrogating the accused as to where he used to bring the drugs from.
