Complete ban on use of unmanned drones till May 25 in Haryana

Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Home Department, said that there is a complete ban on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) / drones till May 25. She has written a letter to all the District Deputy Commissioners, Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the state and given instructions in this regard. The letter states that this preventive-ban is an important step to counter potential threats and protect sensitive areas during increased security scenarios.

He said that in the said case, a ban has been imposed across the state except for use by the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), State Police, NDRF and SDRF. Dr. Mishra has advised all police units and local authorities to intensify surveillance of drones in their jurisdiction. If any drone or UAV is seen or found in transit, it has to be reported immediately to the nearest police station or officer.

Also, prompt and appropriate action has been asked to be initiated. He said that the officers have also been directed to involve bomb disposal squads if there is any doubt about the material or origin of the drone. He urged the people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious flying object or drone to the local police or authorities without delay. He also informed that awareness will be created through print and electronic media to ensure cooperation from the citizens in maintaining security during this sensitive period.
