Rohtak (Haryana): In the wake of the arrest of a suspect linked to the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, her brother has called for the death penalty for the accused. Himani’s body was discovered in a suitcase near a highway in Rohtak on March 1.
In an interview, Jatin, Himani Narwal’s brother, expressed concern over the lack of information from the police regarding the suspect’s identity and urged the media to refrain from spreading false information about his sister’s death. “An arrest has been made, and we will hold her cremation today. There are many rumors circulating in the media. I request that they avoid spreading misinformation. We will seek justice. We still do not know who the accused is, as the police have not informed us. We demand the death penalty for the perpetrator,” Jatin stated.
Himani’s uncle, Ravinder, also called for justice, saying, “Whoever the accused may be, we want justice. We will not proceed with her cremation until the suspect’s identity is revealed. We have not been in contact with the police.”
The Haryana Police confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with Himani Narwal’s murder. On Sunday, they established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. Sampla DSP Rajneesh Kumar stated, “The SIT has been formed. Her phone has been recovered, and we are utilizing cyber and forensic resources to explore all angles of the investigation.”
Previously, Himani’s mother held the election and the Congress party accountable for her daughter’s death, suggesting that her rising prominence within the party may have led to her making enemies. “The election and the party took my daughter’s life. As a result, she gained some adversaries. The culprits could be from the party or even her friends,” she alleged.
