Chandigarh: A four-lane road will be constructed within the available ROW of MITC main channel from Agra Canal Sector 8 to village Gharora in Tigaon Assembly constituency of Faridabad. Chief Minister Nayab Saini has given his approval in this regard.
Giving information in this regard, a government spokesperson said that the construction of this road was demanded by Minister of State for Government of India Krishna Pal Gurjar, Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Rajesh Nagar and former minister and MLA Moolchand Sharma and villagers of surrounding areas and this road will cost about Rs 81 crore.
He informed that in this regard, the Superintending Engineer, Gurugram Circle, PWD B&R Branch, Gurugram had submitted that HSMITC had acquired about 30 hectares of land in Faridabad and constructed a main channel called MITC Channel No. 1 and feeder channels called MITC Channel No. 1 and 2 have been constructed in Faridabad district. Due to heavy losses incurred, the activities of HSMITC were closed on 30.6.2002 under Section 25-0 of the Industrial Disputes Act 1947. Since 30.6.2002, these channels have been abandoned and some of the channel land is being encroached by the local people and about 30 hectares of land of MITC Channel No. 1 with a 23.46 meter wide strip in 13.490 km length is under construction.
It was informed that the construction of a bridge over Yamuna at Manjhawali has been completed and after its construction, there will be a huge increase in traffic intensity on Faridabad Manjhawali Road, causing traffic jams as this road passes through many villages. To address this problem, MITC land can be used for the development of a new road to connect Faridabad with Manjhawali and Noida through village Gharora and it will also serve as a bypass for various villages i.e. Mirzapur, Neemka, Tigaon, Bhainsrawali, Raipur Kalan and Gharora etc. These villages will also be connected to the proposed corridor through the existing road network.
He informed that the proposed road passes through the Dedicated Freight Corridor and at present 2 VUPs of 2 m and 3 m width have been provided in the Dedicated Freight Corridor. For the construction of 4-lane road, minimum 2 VUPs of 9 m width each will be required here. Also, before proceeding further in the matter, 30 hectares of land of Irrigation and Water Resources Department will be required to be transferred to PWD (B&R) as per the existing policy of 2021 for land transfer between government departments.
