Kanwariya from Panipat rescued from drowning as barricade breaks in Yamuna river

Divers saved his life by jumping.

Panipat: A crowd of Shiva devotees gathered to take a bath in the Yamuna River on the border of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. During this, the barricading done in Yamuna also broke, due to which Kanwariya started drowning. Divers took the Kanwariya out safely. After this, he was given first aid on the spot. After recovering, the Kanwariya went towards his destination.

A huge crowd of Shiva devotees, Kanwariyas, who brought holy Ganga water from the religious city of Haridwar, gathered at the local Yamuna Ghat for bathing on Thursday. Due to the large crowd of Kanwariyas, the barricading done for bathing on the Yamuna bank also broke, due to which the Kanwariyas had to bathe outside the barricading.

At around eight o’clock in the night, Kanwariya Vicky, a resident of Panipat, Haryana, started drowning in the pond near the bridge. Due to the breaking of the barricading, he had reached a greater depth.

Seeing the Kanwariya drowning, other Kanwariyas raised an alarm, on which the private divers posted at Yamuna Ghat immediately jumped into the Yamuna River. After which the drowning Kanwariya was taken out safely.

The Kanwariya said that he was going towards his destination with Gangajal from Haridwar, but he felt like taking a dip in the Yamuna river as well. He was not aware of the depth of Yamuna. Later, the Kanwariya thanked the divers and left for his destination.
