Chandigarh: A delegation of the Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar arrived in Chandigarh on Monday to review poll preparedness for forthcoming assembly elections in Haryana.
Election Commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr SS Sandhu also accompanied Kumar in the poll-bound state.
“An ECI delegation led by CEC Rajiv Kumar and ECs Gyanesh Kumar and Dr SS Sandhu arrived at Chandigarh today to review poll preparedness for forthcoming assembly elections in Haryana,” ECI posted on X.
The term of the current 90-member Haryana legislative assembly is set to end on November 3, 2024.
Haryana is one of the eight states that will be holding legislative assembly elections this year.
In these elections, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will jointly contest the upcoming Haryana elections.
The Aam Aadmi Party announced that it will be contesting in the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana on its own in all 90 Assembly polls.
In the 2019 Haryana Assembly polls, the BJP won 40 seats, the Congress won 31 seats, the JJP won 10 seats and the INLD won 1 seat.
The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are expected to take place on or before October 2024, as the current Assembly’s tenure is set to end on November 3 this year. However, the election schedule is yet to be announced.
